Seventh World Atheist Conference

Atheist Centre is holding the Seventh World Atheist Conference at Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, India, on January 5-7, 2009 (Monday through Wednesday) on the theme “March of Atheism”.

India is not only a land of religion, but also of atheism, humanism, rationalism, secularism and forethought. The whole world is moving slowly, but steadily marching towards a post-religious society.

Atheist Centre was founded by Gora (1902-1975) and Saraswathi Gora (1912-2006) in 1940. Since then it is the focal point of Atheism and social change on secular lines. It promotes atheism as a positive way of life (life stance).

Gora organized the First World Atheist Conference in 1972. Since then Atheist Centre organized World Atheist Conferences in 1980, 1980, 1983, 1996, 2005 and 2007.

Mr. Levi Fragell, prominent Norwegian Humanist and former President of the IHEU, will preside.

Registration fee for foreign delegates is US $ 150 (incl. Food and simple accommodation). Those who wish to stay in Hotels at the own expense, many good hotels are available at Vijayawada. Atheist Centre is in the heart of the City. Vijayawada is well connected by train and road and domestic air services from Hyderabad and Chennai..
